Homeland is back and I for one am very happy. Rarely has a show encapsulated the paranoia of a nation, nay, a generation, post 9/11 in quite the manner this has. Its audience is sadly low due to its premium cable location on Showtime. In fact the viewership is more than doubled in the UK as it is shown on free to air Channel 4. Even so the show has been bestowed with Emmys and Golden Globes galore due to its fantastic script and brilliant lead performances.
Claire Danes is a well-known figure in the US due to being a star as a child and she gives yet another acting masterclass in Homeland. For another example of her extraordinary talent watch Temple Gradin, a celebration of autism in all its glory and problems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpkN0JdXRpM
Damian Lewis is not quite as big a name and the Brit is possibly best known for either his par tin Band of Brothers or perhaps even this moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-ytsf-vU8E&list=SP948B0F7EF228801B&feature=player_detailpage#t=525s
The first episode once more pressed the intrigue and volatility button and immediately placed the viewer in an uneasy position that challenged stereotypical views. If you’ve missed the first season here is a handy spoiler free guide. http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/2012/oct/05/homeland-season-two-primer?newsfeed=true
